It’s been a while.

Yep, I haven’t had time to do much posting on this blog.  I’ve actually been out and about and making a dime or two with my photography.  I’m back now and have a lot of catching up with fellow bloggers and others who have occasionally stopped in here.  So here is a few photos I have taken over the last few months.   This one was shot in Fort Collins, Colorado and is titled: “The finish line”. It was at the end of a professional cycling race. This one was captured in Rocky Mountain National Park on a foggy. morning.  It is kind of cool when seen big. A little stream in Rocky Mountain National Park in b&w.  Black and white photos are still my favorite. This summer a piece of the World Trade Center arrived in Fort Collins.  On that after it arrived this gentleman was a part of the ceremony. I have to admit on that day once again my eyes watered up. Well that is it for now.  Hoping for  everyone Happy …

Downtown Fort Collins Early Morning (Winter)

It was early morning December fourth.   The night before a small snowstorm had attacked Fort Collins.  The temperatures were dropping. An arctic cold front was coming in that would last for six days. I arrived downtown a little after five in the morning. The snow was still falling and when I got out of the car within minutes my feet were frozen.  At first the only human life one could see in this area of Fort Collins were the guys driving the snowplows.  I could see them look out at me from the warmth within their cabs.  I was walking around with the Nikon D800, a couple of lens and flash in my bag and my forty year old  tripod slung over my shoulder.  When the plow drivers looked at me I could tell by their expressions that they thought I was crazy to be up and and out in such a storm.  They were probably correct. The logic part of my brain said “Craig get back in that car, warm up and go …

Electrical Filling Station

The photograph was captured September 18th 2013 in the parking lot of the Children’s Museum in Fort Collins, Colorado.  I took it while I was taking a little photo-walk with Nikon’s 1 V1 camera.  It is just a snapshot but I love the picture.  I love the lines of the objects and the photo is asking me a question:  Is this future reality, or just a fantasy by some that will never come to be?  Only time will tell. Hope you like the photo. – CLG

V1 Street Photography and Video

Saturday I was down in Boulder, Colorado. It wasn’t a great day as far as photography goes but I did get a chance to test my new Nikon 1 V1 doing street photography. Because of it’s small size and exceptionally fast focusing it passed with flying colors. A big plus with this camera is that while shooting video you can also snap off still photos. Unfortunately, photographing while videoing the images are saved as JPG’s. I wish the stills could be saved as RAW files. With the V1 you can shoot in Raw when in any of the other V1’s photo modes. I guess you can’t have everything. The photo of the deer was taken from inside my car. I was driving along when I caught sigh of the deer at the side of the road. Usually when I stop the car in front of a wild animal it spooks the animal into running away. I never get a chance to press the shutter button. With the V1, I just pointed the camera and snapped …
